March 12 ~

You have been involved in no trials except those which are part of the human situation. You can rely on God not to allow you to be tested beyond what you are able to cope with. No! When trial comes he will send you along with it the way out of it ... God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape ... Jesus saith ... "I am the way" ...

I'd thought that as I came to understand
the nature of the spirit-war in man
and deeper grew in knowledge, Lord, of Thee,
that I would rise above the war and be
exempt, somehow, from sin's attacks. But no,
they have intensified! The onslaughts grow
more fierce upon my mind. Why is this so?

I've promised that temptations won't exceed
thy strength. Well, now thou'rt stronger! Child, pay heed
to what I say: Thou've crossed the Jordan now.
'Tis in the devil's territory thou
hast come, led by thy Joshua! Battles must
take place till Self, thy foe, is laid out in the dust,
completely vanquished. Fear not! Thou can't fail.
Am I not always with thee? We'll prevail!

... now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land which I am giving to them ... be not frightened, neither be dismayed; for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go ... be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, that you may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but ... against spiritual forces of wickedness ... lay aside the old self ... taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ ... lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world ...
