... the desires of our lower nature run counter to the desires of the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit run counter to the desires of our lower nature ... the [desires of the] Spirit are opposed to the flesh (Godless human nature); for these are antagonistic to each other – continually withstanding and in conflict with each other ... the old self ... your old nature ... is corrupt through deceitful lusts ... 'Tis almost like a schizophrenia
-- these two contesting personalities.
Each strives to head my cast, my Persona!

First is the Cunning Liar, who would seize
control through stratagem, deceit, or who
would simply press his way into my soul
(as I permit), fill me with fleshly view
and play his self-ish and ungodly role
whilst posing as my Self, as "precious me"!

The Other? He is truthful, humble, meek
-- would be my "me," yet lets me know 'tis He!
Above all He is Love -- the Love men seek
and dream of showing forth: the Selfless One!

The first? 'Tis Sin! The Second? 'Tis the Son ...
