I can will what is right, but I cannot perform it. -- I have the intention and urge to do what is right, but no power to carry it out ... But thanks be to God, Who gives us the victory -- making us conquerors -- through our Lord Jesus Christ ... the way of man is not in himself ... "I am the Way" ... look for His presence continually ...

Now hearken to these words, my soul. Pay heed
to what they say. Right thoughts indeed thou need
- right love - within thy heart. And now thou know
'tis not from thine own Self that such thoughts flow.
Thou cannot generate them! Thou might will
to do - be! - right, but such can't happen till
thou look to Jesus. Lo, the One True Way
to be right is to seek Him out. Yes, pray
that He deliver thee from godlessness;
but even better, turn from what doth press
at thee - turn from the weight of Self - and flee
to Jesus! Seek the Lord alone! And He
will bring - and be! - in thee all thou've need of.
Thy True Self He'll be: He, Who's Peace, Joy, Love!
