"If you want to follow Me, deny yourself, take up your cross, and come with Me" ... The Calvary Road

'Tis not an easy path Thou've set me on
-- to leave my life behind and, in the Son,
take on a New Life, Nature, Ego, "I,"
whilst reckoning the old defunct: a lie!

'Tis death to my familiar "me" Thou call
this stubborn soul to. All Self-striving - all! -
Self-confidence and Self-defensiveness,
Self-seeking and Self-vaunting - Selfishness! -
they all must go: to all such I must die ...
whilst confidence in Thee, defense of Thy
Name, seeking Thee and praising Thee
become my very Life - till all I be
and do is an expression of Thy Life,
Thy Self, not mine! 'Tis death ... yet Life ... in Christ!

As you have therefore received the Christ, [even] Jesus the Lord, [so] walk -- regulate your lives and conduct yourselves -- in union with and conformity to Him ... Christ Who is our life ... as [all] Truth is in Jesus ...
