Conversational Prayer-Sonnets and Scriptures

April 22 ~

... the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God ...
2Cor.4:4 (RSV)

Captives

To blame them for the follies - mental ties -
by which they're caught? Not have Compassion's grief
but castigate, decry, scorn, mock, despise
them for their Self-deceptions, lack of b'lief
-- for sin's unending cunning pressing ploys?
No meas'ring stick have they to tag the lies
as lies, to test the thoughts the foe employs
to hide the Truth, e'en as their reason tries
to find a sensible consistency
midst psychic chaos
-- find what only can
be found by faith, by asking God to be
their Wisdom, op'ning them to understand ...

Yet e'en the faith to ask comes but by grace.
O set them free, dear Lord! Reveal Thy Face ...

... it is by his grace you are saved, through trusting him ... For it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ ... who of God is made unto us wisdom ... When he ascended on high, he led captivity captive ... The Lord sets free the prisoners ... opens the eyes of the blind ... lifts up those who are bowed down ...
Eph.2:8 (NEB); 2Cor.4:6 (RSV); 1 Cor.1:30 (KJV); Eph.4:8 (JBP); Ps.146:7,8 (Amp).
