Conversational Prayer-Sonnets and Scriptures

May 7 ~

... he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee ... These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world ... Abide in Me, and I in you ... For if anyone thinks he is something when he is really nothing, he is fooling himself ...
Heb.13:5 (KJV); Jn.16:33 (KJV); Jn.15:4 (NAS); Gal.6:3 (JNT)

Be of Good Cheer - 1

O why, dear Lord, has Thou abandoned me?
Thy Presence I feel not. Aridity
consumes me! Like a zombie now I be
-- dead, joyless, cold. Have I offended Thee
with my unChristlike, fleshly paucity?
I don't deserve Thee, e'en on bended knee ...

Take care! Such thoughts come from thine enemy.
Don't I command thee to abide in Me
-- to seek My Presence constantly?
Despair not! Child, rejoice! Be of good cheer!
I'm more than close: I'm infinitely near!
'Tis not 'cause thou art good that I am here,
but to give thee My Goodness! Have no fear:
I'll never leave thee nor forsake thee! Hear, child! Hear!
Come now to Me! I'll wipe away each tear!

I am weary with my moaning; every night I flood my bed with tears ... no man living is righteous before thee ... For our sake he (God) made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God ... Seek the LORD and his strength, seek his presence continually ... "the Lamb who is in the center of the throne will be their Shepherd, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes" ...
Ps.6:6; 143:2 (RSV); 2Cor.5:21 (RSV)(our parenthetical insertion); Ps.105:4 (RSV); Rev.7:17 (Wil).
