Now the Lord is the Spirit ... What the flesh wants is against the Spirit, and what the Spirit wants is against the flesh, because they are opposed to each other ... antagonistic to each other --
continually withstanding and in conflict with each other ...

The Conflict
There comes a time when e’en my weakling soul
doth recognize two beings dwell within.
Each seeks dominion. Lo! each has the goal
of absolute ascendancy! ’Twould win
out o’er the other and become to me
the sole source of the thoughts by which I live ...
One offers Life for all eternity:
Truth, Wisdom, Love and Perfect Peace doth give ...
The other, siding with Self’s earthly aims,
with endless cunning promulgates deceits,
corrupts the soul till it e’en God disdains,
lives in the flesh, and Adam’s fall repeats ...
’Tis one or ’tis the other. Both can’t rule!
Lord, be my Source! Don’t let me be a fool ...

The fool says in his heart, "There is no God" ... The heart is deceitful above all things, and is exceedingly perverse and corrupt and severely, mortally sick! ... He who leans on, trusts in and is confident of his own mind and heart is a [self-confident] fool ... He who trusts in his own mind is a fool; but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered ... Christ Jesus, whom God has made our wisdom ... Amen! Come, Lord Jesus!
