July 1 ~

... he became the source of eternal salvation to all who obey him ... "he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him" ... "Abide in Me, and I in you ... for apart from Me you can do nothing" ... "What I command you to do is, to keep on loving one another" ... Love never ends ... Have no anxiety about anything ... Be thankful, whatever the circumstances may be ... Fret not ... Rejoice always ... Temptations to sin must come ... but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it ... "I am the Way" ... thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ ...

First God drives home, through Scriptures fearful, strong,
that Thee I must obey if Life I'd see ...

Then Thou tell me that in Thee I belong;
that nothing can I do apart from Thee ...

Then Thy Word gives incredible commands:
to always love; have no anxiety;
to thankful be in ev'ry circumstance;
to never fret, rejoicing constantly ...

Then God puts me in situations where
I'm tempted to the opposite of these
with thoughts/emotions more than I can bear
-- which send me running to Thee crying, "Please,
take over, Jesus! Make me right! Save me!

And thus God crowds me, dearest Lord, to Thee!
