Yet, O LORD, thou art our Father; we are the clay, and thou art our potter; we are all the work of thy hand ...

O Dramatist!
O Dramatist, the stage set all is Thine
as are the players and the script. Each scene
direct Thou from the backdrop, quite unseen.
It's seemed as if the action's been all mine,
so blind I've been to Thy directing hand!
The drama's aim? Long it has taken me
to grasp Thy purpose: to illumine Thee! -
to make Thee known; to help me understand
that Thou art both my Life and Source; that I
rule not my days. In times past I was ruled
by godless beings: in their ways long schooled ...
but now Thou’d have me break free, them defy,
change rulers, wed the Dramatist Himself
and knowingly let Him direct all else!
