August 2 ~

A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man quietly holds it back ... I do not understand my own actions -- I am baffled, bewildered ... when I want to do what is right and good, evil is ever present with me and I am subject to its insistent demands ... Who will release and deliver me from [the shackles of] this body of death? ... the anger of man does not work the righteousness of God ... But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ ...

Lord, I am Thine. Why then does anger come
to sudden fill my soul? Am I not done
with the old life? And yet I feel it churn
within -- intensifying! I oft burn
with anger for no reason. What is wrong?

Thine old man's going - doth no more belong -
and, like a boil coming to a head,
it will erupt, burst forth. Don't be in dread.
It must come out. Give anger up to Me!
Abandon it to Me! Don't let it be
thy ruler. Call on Me to free thee when
it surfaces. Don't heed or be it. Then
I will be able to deliver thee.
And soon thy Spirit will be Love -- be Me!
