... if anyone thinks he is something when he is nothing, he deceives himself ... We can't do anything by ourselves and so claim to produce it ourselves, but God gives us our ability ... not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God ... the Spirit gives life ... we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us ... to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us ...

A sentient vessel: this is what I am!
Designed for occupancy. Such is man!
Of my own Self I'm nothing. This fact I
must recognize, agree with and comply
with, never thinking I am something wise,
important, righteous. All such thoughts are lies
- deceptions! - Satan's cunning voice of Pride.
I'm a balloon! And lest Thou art inside,
I'll either be a wind-bag filled with air
or limp, collapsed, unable life to bear.
Not really! This, dear Lord, Thou must teach me:
that I am nothing when apart from Thee;
and, when I'm filled with Thee, Thou art my All.
If I think otherwise I'll only fall!
