Explanation of Biblical Abbreviations Used on This Web Site
a
nd in the Christ - The Better
Way Devotional

The Christ - The Better Way Daily Devotional has drawn upon some 29 Bible versions or translations for the Bible verses that accompany its sonnets -- especially the King James, New American Standard, Revised Standard, New International, Williams, Barclay and Beck Versions, as well as the Amplified Bible. Verses in some of the other versions we've excerpted from or referred to were so succinct -- so marvelously clear and pertinent to the points being made -- that we couldn't resist drawing upon them. Quotes from several Bible versions are elsewhere on this web site as well.

Because there are so many quotes and references in the Devotional, we have, for the sake of brevity, used abbreviations to define their sources. Most of them will look like this: Jn.15:4-5 (Amp) - which refers to the Gospel of John, chapter 15, verses 4 and 5, in the Amplified Bible. If the reference has a comma between the verses mentioned (such as Jn.15:4,5) it would mean we have excerpted from these verses, but not necessarily have included the complete verses. We have used the same styling to identify the sources of the Bible quotes that appear in the various other places on this web site. Click below to see a legend of Abbreviations for the Bible Versions we have drawn upon, and a legend of Abbreviations for the 66 Books of the Bible.
