The Answer …

And so I answered, only knowing that
Thou'd called me, and that Thou wert real in fact …
and holy … and that somehow Thou would save
me from the doom of an eternal grave.
I knew scant else, nor grasped Thy goal for me:
that union with Thy Self – with Thee! –
awaited me … that Thine Own thoughts, Thy Mind
Thou wanted me to have instead of mine!
Nor that my answer placed me in a fight
against the lord of sin … nor that Thy might
was mine to use through faith to overcome
my foe, my flesh, by cleaving to the Son.
I didn't understand a single thing
about all this ... just Thou wert now my King!
