Conversational Prayer-Sonnets and Scriptures

Devotions for the Midyear: 4 ~

Be strong, and let your heart take courage, all you who wait for the LORD! ... you have seen the purpose of the Lord, how the Lord is compassionate and merciful ...
Ps.31:24 (RSV); Js.5:11 (RSV)

The Purpose of the Sonnets

These Sonnets thus together are designed
as an encouragement: to call to mind
the wondrous fact that Christ awaits within
to be our Life and Peace! He'd still the din
of our unceasing thoughts - malaise, concern -
and fill our soul each time by faith we turn
to Him. O, how He hopes we'll let Him take
His place in us as Lord - as Self! - and make
us new creations: vessels shining bright:
meet for the Master's use: filled with His Light!

All happenstance, the Sonnets further say,
the Father sends to turn us, in this way,
to Jesus, till He's formed in us ... We pray
they'll bless thee! Read just one, perhaps, each day ...

Therefore, if any one is in Christ, he is a new creation ... And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming ... My children, I'm suffering birth pains for you again till Christ is formed in you ... Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest ...
2Cor.5:17 (RSV); 1 Jn.2:28 (KJV); Gal.4:19 (Beck); Matt.11:28 (KJV).
