Conversational Prayer-Sonnets and Scriptures

Preamble 3 ~
Know this, my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear, slow to speak ... let thy words be few ... he who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him ... "that they may be one, just as We are one; I in them, and Thou in Me" ...
Js.1:19 (RSV); Eccles.5:2 (KJV); 1 Cor.6:17 (RSV); Jn.17:22,23 (NAS)
The Sonnet Form
The sonnet form, not often practiced now,
provides a means succinct for telling how
the Lord would have His children each abide
in Him, and He in them. To be His Bride
is to be of one Spirit with our Lord ...
and hence with God. Blest oneness! -
which His Word
both offers and commands unto the soul.
His Life as yours and mine! What higher goal!
And hence these sonnets: Fourteen measured lines,
iambic, pentametric, simple rhymes
each setting forth some aspect of Gods call
to Union with His Son: to make Him All,
the End-All of this swiftly passing span ...
Be Thou our Very Life, O Son of Man!

Rom.13:14 (Bar); Heb.12:2 (Bar); Col.3:4 (Beck); Jn.15:4,5 (NAS).
