The Plunge - and Five Timely Warnings

Do not quench the Spirit ... but test everything; hold fast what is good, abstain from every form of evil ... in the last days difficult times will come ... men will be lovers of of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God ... And, indeed, all who desire to live godly in Christ will be persecuted. But evil men and imposters will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. You, however, continue in the things you have learned ... Strive for peace with all men, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord ...

The Plunge

I grieve! I grieve to see banality,
corruption, crassness, immorality
spread like a plague throughout society.
A plunge into the darkness doth it be!
-- a mass acceptance of debauchery
as hearts are hardened 'gainst propriety.
Now godly values bring forth mockery!
The Spirit's quenched! The flesh has been set free
to pave the way for infidelity
and its companion: blatant sodomy!
The media? Filled with violence they be.
They foster murder and brutality
till laughter comes, not shock, at cruelty.

O hide me, Lord, within Thy Purity!

What is revealed is God's anger from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people who in their wickedness keep suppressing the truth ... they have no excuse; because, although they know who God is, they do not glorify him as God or thank him ... Claiming to be wise, they have become fools! ... This is why God has given them up to degrading passions ... men committing shameful acts with other men ... filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and vice; stuffed with jealousy, murder, quarreling, dishonesty and ill-will ... they plan evil schemes ... they are brainless, faithless, heartless and ruthless ... They know well enough God's righteous decree that people who do such things deserve to die; yet not only do they keep on doing them, but they applaud others who do the same ... "this people's soul has grown dull, And they scarcely hear with their ears, And they have shut tight their eyes, So that they may never see with their eyes, And understand with their souls, And turn to me, That I may cure them" ...
